| Although the organisers of your yoga holiday offer a free minibus for excursions in the local area, you may wish to consider hiring a car.
This will enable you to get the most from your yoga holiday - for tranport to and from the airport of your choice, and to explore the hidden, out-of-the-way places that makes Crete so special. For example, a drive to Sfakia on the south coast, is a spectacular, never-to-be-forgotten adventure through extraordinary countryside. (It is very different to the green North Coast - more like the surface of the moon!). But if your preferred mode of transport is more modest, you can hire a scooter or bicycle. |

| There are several local Greek-owned companies which we can recommend. You will get good service, with no hidden extras, and at reasonable prices.
AutoClub, for example, has an office in Almyrida and is staffed by English ex-pats, so language is never a problem. Upon your arrival, the AutoClub agent will meet you in the airport lounge (either Heraklion or Chania) and organise your paperwork. The drive from either airports is fairly straightforward and clear directions are given. However, for a small extra charge, you can often book a 'Driver Service' where you can br driven back to your villa. This is ideal if you are unsure of the way or just need extra reassurance. Please advise in advance of your visit if you require this facility. Prices: expect to pay 190 - 250 Euros per week for a small to medium 4-5 seater car. (Prices will be 30-40 euros higher per week from pickup at Heraklion to relect the extra distance.) Minibuses are also available at reasonable rates, either 7 or 9 seaters. Alternatively, you can make your own way from the airport (Taxi from Chania around 20 2uro. From Heraklion, expect 80 euro) and arrange with AutoClub to have your car ready in Almirida or even delivered to your villa door. They are very flexible and will try to help as much as possible.
