| For our yoga holidays in Crete, the preferred airport is Chania because it is an easy half-hour drive away (20km). There are regular charter flights on a Tuesday (our changeover day) from major UK airports.
The alternative airport is Heraklion. Compared to Chania, there is a wider choice of UK departure airports. However, it is a 2 hour drive away (120km) - you may wish to hire a car for the week (the route is easy, along the main National Road). Tuesday charter flights to Chania: from Gatwick, Manchester & Newcastle airports. Tuesday charter flights to Heraklion: from Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, East Midlands, Exeter, Glasgow, Humberside, Leeds Bradford, Gatwick, Manchester, Stanstead, Newcastle. Also GB Airways offer scheduled direct flights from Manchester and Gatwick to Heraklion. Typical prices for 2008: Expect to pay £150 - £240 return flight in May/June and September/October. More than just flights! If you cannot get a convenient Tuesday flight, you may like to consider extending your holiday to include a couple of days either side of your yoga week. We can recommend several hotels where you can stay, enjoying a different aspect of Cretan culture and lifestyle before the yoga programme. Airport transfers There is a good taxi service from Chania airport to our villas. It should cost no more than 30 euros (£22) including tip. Taxi from Heraklion will cost appoximately 100 euros (£65).
